On the horizon
is Magellan's second new product for today (we are yet to hear from Magellan
officially on this one), it's the Magellan RoadMate 860T portable GPS navigation
system. You would be forgiven for thinking it's the older model, the RoadMate
800, as the Magellan RoadMate 860T has retained the same design.
The Magellan RoadMate
860T is equipped with a traffic receiver allowing you to catch the traffic conditions
live on the screen. A massive 20-gig hard drive is attached, and it has more
than 10GB free space for storing MP3s or JPEG images for your listening/viewing
pleasure.
The TrueView feature
is especially useful, since it springs open a visual of upcoming turns. Then
there's SmartVolume, which automatically increases volume when the speed of
the vehicle exceeds 45mph. The screen is a big 3.5" hi-res color touchscreen.
The Magellan RoadMate
860T is targeted for release early May 2006, details should soon be available
at Magellan's website. .
